First thing to NOT use is a 1N4007 diode. 1N34, 1N60, 1N4148... just about any signal diode will work. eBay may not be the best place to find parts because of fake/counterfeit parts. But these diodes are easy to come by. I would take a chance on "The Auction Site" if that is the direction you want to go.
