Yes, in the 30s Italy started with experimental television.
They used german Telefunken E-1 and the fascinating sets
from Allocchio Bacchini and Safar!
Safar made experimental sets even in about 1948.
I have a couple of early postwar sets in my collection of
vintage italian TV sets (1952-1954).
Geloso (experimental one-channel with 22cm round CRT),
Autovox console/round 36cm CRT (company founded by Benito the great!),
1952 Effedibi TV-1, Effedibi TV-3/1954 (both 14" pollici),
1953 Allocchio Bacchini 21" pollici (The luxury company), and an
early Radiomarelli 17" pollici and a 17" pollici Phonola.
