The EMUD 915 I worked on was just like this. The buttons were creating issues with audio, using all the tone/mono/stereo control permutations, including very flimsy tone pots.
First I hit it with DeOxit D5 then CRC 5-56 or contact cleaner leaving no residue, finally DeOxit one or two more times. Don't neglect the lubrication needed on the mechanism/slider. A Korting switch deck needed even more solvent-rinse-spray-repeat.
German designs are so similar across the makes yet parts quality varies. I felt the EMUD was more solidly built than Grundig and Korting.

Thanks for the info, when I get around to working on that unit for the guy again I think I might try what you suggested, because I thought that maybe just hitting it a couple of times with CRC Contact Cleaner would be enough to repair the switches and controls on this unit, but it looks like I probably should of hit it 4 or 5 times.
