I believe the correct test tube for this era of CRT is the 5AXP4 though an 8XP4 will also work. IIRC these have a funky yoke and air core flyback that have to be used with each other.
I simply made up a jumper cable for the HV to the test CRT.

Yes a 5AXP4 is better but rarer and more expensive. I used the 8XP4 as it was cheaper and I could use it on sets up to 90 degree deflection.
