The Sony FP60 and FP62 used a 5.25 inch Indextron CRT. This CRT provided exceptional brightness due to the fact that there is no shadow mask or aperture grill to block the energy provided.

This is why it had a competitive advantage over the 3 tube projectors of the day, while being portable with no set up convergence requirements.
As an owner of the Advent Model 750 and Kloss Novabeam Model 10, 3 tube projectors, I can attest to the fact that my FP62 was as bright as those models.
