Good Morning: Your tv has symptoms of a Keystone effect, where the picture is
a Inconsistent width from top to bottom. May also be called Trapezoid.
Might even be a Pincushion Setting that needs Adjustment.
This is not a Convergence Problem, do not mess with that you will never get
it back to perfect if you do.

than a digital projector, trapezoidal or alignment errors are corrected via hardware
geometry controls or physical components:
Service Menu Tweaks: You can access the hidden service menu by turning the TV off,
then pressing Display (or Channel Info), 5, Volume Up, and Power On on your original
Sony remote. Look for parameters like rotation (TROT) or horizontal/vertical sizing
options to straighten minor picture slants. Always write down default numbers before
changing anything.
Physical Deflection Yoke Alignment: If the image is severely tilted or angled in a way
the service menu cannot fix, the physical deflection yoke on the neck of the CRT tube
inside the chassis may have shifted or become crooked. Adjusting this requires
opening the back casing of the television and carefully loosening the yoke clamp.

To Me it looks like this can be corrected from the Geometry Settings
in the Service Menu. Try this area first, Looks like Items 7 - 13,
These are the ones to look at first. REMEMBER to write
down the original settings before you change any of
them so you can set it back if that is not the one....

Also Pg. 27 shows the Geometry Items, What they are called,
and the parts of the screen they will effect.
Good Luck, don't mess with convergence, you will never get it
better than it is now on a set like that. And It does look
perfect as is.....
