This is very true. I usually do this several times. Sometimes I wait 5 minutes and discharge it again. I will do it again before putting everything back together... and generally will find a small amount to discharge at the anode button. This small amount is not a lot and likely won't hurt you. However, it could be enough to startle you and your first reaction would be to pull your hand out really fast... possibly causing you to hit something and damage it.
