That's basically what I did, i globbed some low acid Silicone on the inside of the broken pieces and stuck them to the windings, then I wrapped electrical tape around it to hold it in place.

The picture is shifted to one side a little but I don't know if this has anything to do with the yoke or if it's just out of adjustment somewhere.

I put the thing back together today and was actually able to tune a weak picture using a coat hanger for an antenna, the color works too!
