I started the restoration of the cabnet today.

Too bad, I cant get before or after pics, no camera.

Anyway, i tore off all that old pressboard. sanded down the front, and cleaned it up, and restained it to be red mahogany.

It looks nice now. I still need to go over to lowes or home depot and get some plywood for the sides and top. I need some 1 by 2, or 1 by 1 studs for the frame. I have no idea how much its gonna cost, as I never bought wood before. I heard that an 8 by 4 sheet of plywood is 4 dollars, but i dont know, can anyone fill me in? If they sell veneer, ill get that. If not, im gonna have to use the simulated wood grain paper of the right stain.

I also need that clear coat laquer. dont have any of that either, the stain is sticky, and isnt shiny at all. but it looks nice.

It has lots and lots of termite damage, including one corner of the front, and the rear trim towards the bottom. I need to get some wood putty to fix all of that. Its going to be a job in itself, but it should work out ok.

Anyone got a 12" speaker? its missing that as well.
