Your observation is correct! I was 13 when I got my first job at Harvey's TV in West LA. That was where I learned the business after I had become interested in TV and electronics as a small boy. I would go over to the shop 3 days a week after school.

As far as the Sony 1.5" with slip-on magnifier, no offense but it doesn't exist at least in US production. But the Panasonic color 1.5" CT-101 does... And a myriad of B&W 1.5" slip-on magnifier sets from the late 60s to the mid 80s...
