It's true that many of these people just don't know, but I sell lots of things on eBay that I don't know anything about. I just add words & phrases such as "Appears to be", "Seems", "I was told by...", or "I believe this is...". So this avoids annoying those viewers who DO know what it is, while allowing suggestion as to what the facts may be.
Matter of fact, sometimes I've had better luck selling eBay items when I play TOTALLY dumb in my descriptions
