Terry, mine has the CYP so I can tell you that there is a resistor and spring that hooks from one anode to the other.
Apparently there is the main connector that goes to the Dag coating on the inside of the bell just like every other CRT, the second connector seems to go to the front of the tube, possibly the shadow mask?
Maybe it gives the beam a little more kick before it strikes the Phosphor?
