RCA Combo

It looks like the picture tube in this eBay listing is a replacement "black-matrix" tube which is a big plus. I had a CTC-16 I sold with a "black matrix" colorama tube in it and the picture was FANTASTIC! I wish I never would have sold it, but you guys know about the "needing more room" situation..... LOL. I think the seller has the price a tad high. You can always tell a "newbie" on eBay because they always start out with the price they want. For $500.00 this set had better be flawless. I think the other combo unit we have been chatting about probably doesn't need that much work. The boards separating from the chassis??? I have never seen that problem in an RCA of this vintage. I think the tech just didn't want to work on it, and most techs don't know how. I currently have a 1970's Chromacolor 2 in the shop and the tech had worked on them, but he wasn't too pleased to be working on something that old. I even had to get the parts myself from Moyers, as they wouldn't even look.... Anyway, for me it would be a toss-up on which set to get. If this seller has no bids, maybe he would "deal", but I would sure check and make sure EVERYTHING works. When you pay that much you wouldn't want to sink in hundreds more on repairs. DRH sold his restored Maggie Combo and it didn't bring that much for all the work he had in it. Altho on that set the turntable was better than what RCA used but I think an RCA is a much better design tv wise than Magnavox. Just my opinion, and hope someone gets these cool combos!! (wish I had the room....)
