Congress has an appropriation in the bill that will either subsidize or provide free of charge decoder boxes. So don't worry about it. As for CRT going out of production it's supply and demand. The demand for CRT's, whether they are computer monitors or TV's, has waned so manufacturers have moved production where the demand is. I recently purchased a large LCD for my bedroom and am glad to have my gigantic CRT gone forever. CRT production remains mostly for under developed countries and their production won't stop completely for many more years.
