Along the same lines I have seen the RCA brand used at Radio Shack on devices that used to be called Realistic and have no apparent connection to Thomson. They must be licensing the brand out to Radio Shack.
Also have seen some old brands resurface on cheap modern equipment like Garrard, Curtis Mathes, KLH.
