I have a Zenith Royal 500D. The nylon case is quite durable. It is a flexible plastic which accounts for its impact resistance. I have seen a few broken examples but most have survived intact. I don't think I've ever seen one of those sets without at least some battery corrosion on the terminals. Batteries from the 1950s must have leaked like a sieve.
