Finds at an antique store
I found these at an antique store. Didn't buy them, but found them interesting.
First up, a TV called Sparky.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_1408.jpg Second, Zenith Space Command remote, for a price of $20. Too high for my taste, but then again, I don't own a Zenith TV either. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_1410.jpg If anyone wants the space command remote, if they feel it's an ok price, I'll pick it up for you, you just pay shipping. |

I can't believe Sharp actually put the name "Sparky" on that TV.
Who would want to buy electronics with the word Sparky on it? (Go fire up old Sparky Ma!) Perhaps this is a case of bad Translation, like Donkey Kong, anyway I'd probably get it if it was cheap. |

At first I thought it was a sticker but its definitely printed on from the factory.
It has a single 75 ohm coax for VHF and twin leads for UHF. |

That sharp would make a good monitor for a retro computer (CoCo, Commodore, etc).

I'll get it if anyone wants it. I personally find it ugly.

Even though by the eighties, the Japanese Ruled The World in consumer electrics, every now & then, a crack appeared in their invincibility..Likely a RARE example of "Engrish"...Hehehehehe..

We stopped in a few antique stores today to pass the time. One had a rather large lighted sign advertising Philco Color TV, dating from the 65-67 era, I would say. No bargain, though-$175. Unfortunately the colors had faded away and it was all pretty much "monochrome" now.

A sign firm, with a boom truck, probably charges $200 or more an hour.

This may be a Japanese marketer translating a German name to English for use on the US product. ("Telefunken" - a German brand that literally means "distant sparks"). (Rundfunk - broadcasting). (Funke - spark)

I know where there is one now I would probably give 200 for. Its not too high, maybe 10 feet. I would take it down myself if he would sale it. I have removed similar things like this. But he told me he is just going to leave it on the building and sale it with the building.

I'm pretty sure it's that identical model Space Command remote someone is trying to sell on ebay for $500.

They also sold calculators under the Sparky name, with a neat sliding cover.
