It was certainly doing the right thing on the seller's part to disclose how the TV came to its present state of integrity, but since TRK-9 and TRK-12 guts are one and the same, I don't think it will bruise his profit any!

This, I think, would be my dream set. From the first time I saw a picture of one in a magazine as a kid I have been intrigued by the idea of a high-end prewar radio with a tv. Alas, if I ever have one it will be because I somehow, in a streak of amazing luck, tripped over one somewhere for $0. Sure, I could pull my life savings out of the bank and maybe win this-might not even be such a bad investment. But even my life savings probably won't catch this one.

I saw this set about 5 years ago at the seller's house. I believe it was on loan to the Bowie Radio and TV museum last year. I wonder if the museum is bidding on it? The seller is considered a very good TV restorer with some of his work on display at the ETF museum.

I think the later radio chassis' did away with the eye tube in the radio tuner as this one has. My 1939 Red Book does not show the radio chassis for the 9. There would be a few differences in the later 120 video chassis.

Oh, I have seen that I have confused all these prewar sets. There are so many prewar sets on the bay that I did not realize how many they are.

There are about 500 prewar sets total (1/2 U.S. and 1/2 other) as listed on the ETF site. Considering collectors that have prewar sets have multiple prewar tvs, i.e. ETF museum has 47 prewar sets, there really aren't many to go around. Also the RCA Prewar Sets appeal to Art Deco and World's Fair collectors.
