Anyone know Patterson radios - Videokarma.org TV - Video

I have a Patterson All wave radio that was my grandfathers. I can't find much info on this brand on the net or around here. Is anyone around here familiar with this brand. I would like to get this guy up and running. I know I have not given much info, I will have to dig it out of the garage and post some model numbers or pictures. It is a floor standing unit that has about a 12 inch Magnavox speaker. In the meantime is there opinions if this is worth saving. Thanks in advance.

I've seen a few of 'em On The Bay. Seems like they were big into amateur/allwave sets in the '30s. Yeah, DEFINITELY worth keeping/restoring, if its in any kind of shape at all.

The Magnavox speaker alone makes the console worth saving.

Thanks for the info. I will have to dig it out of the garage and take some pictures. Also, is there some heads up I need before I give it a try. I know to use a variac on start up. If I remember right, all of the tubes are in place. Is there someway or anything that needs testing before a full fledge start up? Thanks

Replace at the mimium all electrolytic capacitors before you try to power the console up as a shorted cap will ruin the rectifier and/or power transformer. Once you have done that and powered the radio up replace any paper capacitors and out of tolerance resistors.
