Dads Christmas Gift
Found this at a thrift shop. I cleaned it up and am going to give it to my dad for Christmas.

Nice. Those Zeniths were really good radios.

Your dad is going to be thrilled. I would be.
You are the good son. He's gonna be proud.

Little info my dad is 83 years old and he likes to listen to the radio.
He sits in the kitchen and listens. He currently has some kind of clock radio he is using. I think he will like this one as I am sure he seen these when they where new. I painted the knobs and cleaned up the outside using Howards feed and wax on the cabinet. I blew the chassis out with compressed air, had to glue the station dial back on it was loose. My wife also likes it. I seen it sitting on the shelf and thought it was cool. Cost to buy 10.00 bucks the look on his face should be priceless.

Make sure someone has a camera, and the shot already framed up, ready to take. You'll always remember, but it would be cool to show him.

Those radios sound good. In particular the human voice is very warm sounding and talk radio sounds good. Reception is also better on those old guys then modern radios.
Good idea. Snade |

I have the same model..even has all its' original tubes! However..check the electrolytic can..could be leaky/crusty but still be in playing condition. I ended up mounting a terminal strip with seperate values and I use mine daily.

On the cap(s) what parts did you use? I do not have a schematic.
Thanks Jerry

Just duplicate the values that are listed on the electrolytic can. I pulled the can out and I don't have it anymore and I'd have to pull the chassis out to verify. But off the top of my head, with all voltage values being 150vdc, a 3 section can, values were 60-40-20. I used some sprague atoms and stuck with the original values. It's a snug fit, but there's room!
