rescued from the ewaste pile

Most thrift shops in san diego have an ewaste pile that is picked up weekly. This is usually all the TVs and monitors that don't work or don't pass muster.

I was just about to leave one when I spotted two sets. One of which looks to be a late 50s RCA, the other a later 60s RCA. You can see the 60s RCA in another thread.

They of course wouldn't give them to me, however I was able to talk the floor manager into selling them to me for $10 each. Both a fairly beat, but hopefully don't have too much wrong that makes them unrepairable.

I haven't checked anything on either yet. At the moment I had to move quite abit around to squeeze them in the hosue.

Nice 90-degree CRT! Congratulations and good luck.

Does anyone know when the last 90-degree 21-inch CRTs were installed
in brand new TVs?

P.S.: I meant b/w TVs, not color.

IIRC I think the last of the 90 degree monochrome tube sets would be about 1965 vintage at the latest. Most of the low line makes such as Bradford, Airline, Muntz, Olympic, Sonora, etc likely still used the older tubes up 'til then. Cheaper, as the major companies had phased them out, and NOS could be had for less.

That's a pretty-looking RCA floor set.
