Sencore CR70
I'm looking at one of these testers, but noticed they usually only come with 4 or 5 adapters that are numbered somewhere between 1 and 9 from what I can tell.
How many adapters were available and what numbers are the best ones to have for pre 1970 crts? Darryl |

I'm away from home and can't check mine, but the best one to have is the Universal Adapter, which has a set of clip leads for the pins. That's lets you check 10BP4 and so on. The book tells you what connections to make.
If you don't have that one, you could make it up using clip leads and the right connector for the tester end. My book has the pinout for the connector and I believe someone (bandersen?) has done that. Phil |

I was able to get my CR70 dirt cheap because all the adapters were missing. With Phil's info I was able to make up a universal adapter (UA) fairly easily. Since then, I've picked up a real Sencore UA and a couple others on eBay. They do show up now and then.

Thanks guys. I'm looking to upgrade from my MightyMac and the CR70 looks good. All the ones I've looked at seem to come with 4 or 5 adapters, and maybe the flying leads, but they always seem to be different adapters. Does anyone have a list of adapter numbers and which crt base they are for?

Mine has sockets 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7, 9/10, 13, and the UA. That fills up all the cutouts in the foam inside the case lid. Presumably there are others (8? 11/12?).
The book doesn't have the list you're looking for. It just says, use the socket indicated in the setup book, or use the UA as indicated or if nothing else works. I have never used anything but the UA, but I've only used this tester on about half a dozen tube types. The setup book is over 300 pages . . . . Phil |

Hi Phil,
When you say yours has socket 1/2 does this mean one is stowed above the other, or they are the same adapter? Thanks, Darryl |
