1985 RCA console crackle
Hello all, I got a 1985 RCA console TV for free on craigslist a couple of months ago. It worked great until just recently. Every once in a while it makes a crackle and there is a white static line that goes through the screen. It doesn't happen all the time. I know its an old tv and its not going to last forever I was just wondering if this was a common thing and what could be causing it? Perhaps an easy fix? Thanks!

Either you have a loose connection on the flyback (most likely) or the suction cup for the anode (big red wire doing to the top of the CRT) is loose. Neither of these you should attemp to fool with since there is a nasty stored voltage in the CRT that will severly injure you unless yo know what you are doing. A wooden dowel would be your best friend.
