Dreaming of old TV's

Sorta. I had a weird dream, that I'm certain I may unfortunately find true one of these days.

In my dream I went into an antique shop, and found a rack of old vintage TV's, like CTC-5's, and some others that I don't thin are even real (but have old vintage looks to them---as if my mind just made up a design). I was wanting to it it, until I noticed it was an LCD fitted in them, and all the original guts were gone.

Thankfully it was a dream, but I'm scared to think that I might actually stumble upon something like this.

By the way, in case someone wants to know, one of the TV's I dreamed up looked like this. I don't think it's a real model though, and don't ask me what the top slider does, I just don't know, lol. In my dream, nothing had labels or anything.

Is this TV actually real? Or is it just some product of my imagination?

You could find something very close to that if you looked around.

I haven't been able to find anything like that that. I'd assume via my dream, that the top right knob is power, and the slider is left. I'm also guessing the big knob is VHF and for some reason I dreamed of a tiny UHF knob.

Actually now that I think of it, the design doesn't make much sense.. Why would I have dreamed of a power "knob" but it doesn't also act as volume? lol

I like how well used that Zenith looks - plus it's one of the early 70s models with a neat hybrid chassis. I had to look up CTC-17's website to get the scoop on that set after seeing that pic (and the CRT is good! but it has the same screwy colour problems which previously affected my same era zenith) - when I first discovered videokarma I spent a few hours staring into the backs of his old tv's.

Oh that pic was of your TV? I was merely doing google searches trying to find a tv that looked at all like I dreamed.

I have no other room for a tv. Besides if I do get another tv someone needs to take my hitachi off my hands and ill give my sis the Samsung.

Slide controls saw a lot of use in the early/mid 70s. I don't recall seeing one with an integral power switch-they would have had a seperate button to press.

Had an old TV dream myself the other night (do a search, there is an old, old thread on here with a bunch of them from different members). Seems I was looking at a Dollar General sales flyer and they had a Portacolor in there! It was a 70s model, wide with horizontally spaced tuners. So, I go to the store and talk to the manager who tells me, no problem, we have a choice of two colors. We don't have them in stock but will have it tomorrow afternoon. The one I picked was the cheapest of the two and cost $45. So, I come back the next day and, sure enough, it's a NOS GE portable. I don't want to rush into opening the box...I'm trying to read the labels but, if you're like me, it's pretty tough to make out any writing in a dream! There is a photo of the Portacolor pasted in one place but elsewhere is a better photo showing one of the AA/AB "Portacolor III" sets from the early 80s. I find a date on the box of 1991, which doesn't make much sense, of course. I become 99% sure that it is an AB and then decide I have to get home and get on Videokarma to see whether you guys thought a NIB "AB" was worth $45, or if I should just return it to Dollar General. End of story!
