Mad Men TV's
Saw a couple TV's on Mad Man tonight.
First up is the white set below, I couldn't tell if it was real or a mock up, later on it shows it with a raster and the shape of the CRT looks like a 23" B&W from the mid 60's. It appeared to actually be working because when they moved it there was a slight banding artifact from the camera. Still later there's part of a large color console in an office, looks like it could be an RCA CTC40 model. This season is set in 1968 so that would be about right. |

Seeing post title made me think "Admiral" but after seeing photos, I guess Zenith because of conical-shaped selector knobs.

I still do TV spotting myself, really hard now with all the
plain Jane black boxes from the 90's. They have NO character. Console- not enuf, maybe when I was still fixing them............ B&W- Looks very Zenith, late 60's 16" in distance shot BUT Set looks to deep & boxy, CRT too dark, seems to have set of ears on to, could have just pulled up the built-ins. Any right side shot to see if it has side knobs ala Zenith ? I bet its a mock-up. Just dont look right......... BTW abt 10 yrs ago someone brought in a suit-case Zenith for recycle ( paid $25 fee). It still worked real nice & had near mint cosmetics. The owner put it out front, couldnt junk it. Some cat came in that was making a movie & needed an old set for a prop. he HAPPILY paid $200 for it! $200 + $25 more than we made on a 35" XBR !!! Think it was a B movie, slice & dice genre. He told the owner he would drop off a copy when done, have to call him & see if he did. 73 Zeno |
