The concept behind the Motorola Quasar Color TV
Recently, I acquired numerous copies of "The Voice Of Motorola" from the estate of a retired Motorola engineer. This was a bi-weekly newsletter/newspaper that was published by Motorola and handed out to all employees. I have various issues between 1964 to 1973. They are a great wealth of information to learn the inside stories of what was happening at Motorola at the time and also stories about the people who worked in the various plants etc. One such article I found of great interest was from an August 15th, 1968 issue. It describes the marketing concept behind the then new "Quasar" color television program which was nationally launched in the fall of '68. I took a photo of the newsletter since it's much too large to scan, but it's a fun read directly from a very rare resource. Enjoy! Jack, I believe the TS-919 was released in June of '67. Before the Quasar name, the sets simply read "Motorola" and "Solid State" on the front panel.

Very cool! Thanks for posting, and I hope you do more!
The earliest works in a drawer TS-915 sets didn't have the Quasar name on them. They simply said on the front "Motorola Solid State Color."

The shop I used to own became a Motorola dealer just about the time the "works in the drawer" chassis appeared. When I bought it, there were a couple boxes of factory sales and service literature tucked away in the basement from the late 60's and a shelf full of Motorola parts.
At that time (about 1990), this wasn't really worth anything. Since I was needing the space, I threw it all in the dumpster. If I knew then what I know now.......
