Admiral bakelite console rear covers
I recently purchased a 1948 Admiral 10" bakelite console. As most do, it's missing it's metal rear cover, so I'm on the look-out for one. I was wondering if they come up for sale frequently and at what price do they sell for?
If anyone has one and is willing to sell it please let me know. |

I made a temporary flat back for the set using heavy steel gauge stock and cup. It looks better in person and could almost be taken for original! It's rigid and at least protects the CRT neck. The natural finish is much more even and bright in person.

I did something similar for mine. I used a piece of aluminum shielding (full of holes) I salvaged from a computer monitor. I cut it to size, mounted it to the bakelite cabinet and to the chassis. The CRT neck is completely inside the cabinet, so I didn't need a cup.
