Want to make RCA Chassis Extensions

Hey guys I have two RCA sets that I want to be able to work on on the bench. So I was thinking about being able to pull the chassis out and make a high voltage extension, and an extension for the Yoke connection. The yoke seems simple it looks like an 8-pin tube base, I have a bad tube I can break the bottom off of, and then I'll buy a tube base and I should be good. The anode wire is strange. It's the type where the picture tube has a piece of wire coming off of it and it snaps to a female connector on the high voltage cage. What can I use to make that extension? The one chassis is a kcs47e the other is a kcs47gf2.

Fot HV, I found this place, but I have no experience with them, so buy at your own risk:

The other possibility is if you can find a long enough anode lead from a parts donor set.

If it is for troubleshooting and maintenance, I use an 8FP4 crt in place of the set's CRT. The tube connections are the same and it will work with your chassis. Plugs straight into your set's CRT socket and just slip it through the yoke. It is electrostatic focus with an aluminized screen so it does not need the focus coil or ion trap. I geberally remove physically the focus coil while using this tube on my RCA chassis.

Here is one currently on ebay.

IIRC the KCS-47 has a bassackwards HV connection they mounted what's basically the HV cup an all glass tube would have to an installed standoff on the HV cage then from the metal bell of the 16" CRT they run a wire with a connector on the end that plugs into the HV cage (that connector being the same type that would plug in the CRT side of most glass tubes). I scrapped out a KCS-47 and saved those bits to make an extension lead for my test jig.
I believe the correct test tube for this era of CRT is the 5AXP4 though an 8XP4 will also work. IIRC these have a funky yoke and air core flyback that have to be used with each other.

I simply made up a jumper cable for the HV to the test CRT.

Yes a 5AXP4 is better but rarer and more expensive. I used the 8XP4 as it was cheaper and I could use it on sets up to 90 degree deflection.

Tom I remember you did a video on the kcs 47 a few years ago. I was wondering how you got that weird high voltage connection extended.

I do have an 8YP4. I should be able to use that right?

Could I use a #12 piece of wire, clip leads and a roll of rubber insulating tape to make my anode extension?

Not without a base adapter and some padding around the yoke.
8YP4 is a much larger 110 degree deflection, different base and smaller neck diameter.

8XP4 would be a better choice.
