1976 Zenith 19" Chromacolor II
At an estate sale, I bought this 19" Zenith Chromacolor II (April, 1976, 19HC48 chassis) for $10. Back in the '90s, the various Zenith Chromacolor II and "4-tube hybrid" sets were plentiful, but I rarely find CC2 sets anymore and haven't seen a "4-tube hybrid" in over 20 years.
When initially tested, this had a bluish-purple picture with the color control turned down, and the color control has very little effect. With the picture control turned up, the blue "bled out", like what happens with a weak tube. Fortunately, the CRT tests strong, so I tried to do a greyscale set-up and discovered that the red G2 pot is bad (it goes from nothing to "full on" and I've seen those pots fail before). Surprisingly, it looks to still have the original tripler, and those were "high failure" parts. Except for a possible replacement of the vertical module, it does not look like this set has been serviced. I'll replace the bad G2 pot and go from there. Back in the '90s, these were generally easy fixes, produced a nice picture, and were easy "money makers." In the mid-'90s, I was selling used ones just like this for $75 with no problem.

Had that same model as my bench set for years then sold it to John H of fondulac...I don't think anyone ever opened the back on my set.
