Electrolytic recapping of a 5-303W?

In this Sony portable transistor set, does this need to be done? The top of the screen is wavy, the contrast and brightness are way out of wack, and when I first turn on the set I get a buzz from the audio, then it goes away. I plan on replacing every electrolytic and the full wave bridge selenium rectifier. Should this brink it back to decent operation or are there things I should check? Channel 3 comes in super sharp from my satellite receiver, so the IF section is probably still in alignment.

Thanks.

Jonathan

Recapping Sony 5-303W

If you want the set to be reliable, then by all means replace the electrolytics on both the sweep board (the top one) and the signal board (the lower one). I have one of the same model and it recently lost the picture and I suspect the trouble is a bad cap in the horizontal section. Transistor radios of the same age are coming up needing all electrolytics replaced. This TV should benefit greatly from a recap.

That's exactly what I'll do then.

Thank you.
