This week in 1908...

This week, in 1908, Alan Archibald Campbell Swinton first described all-electronic television in a letter to Nature magazine. Four years later, he said "Such an apparatus will never be built." And in 1924 he was quoted as saying "It is probably scarcely worth anyone's while to pursue it."

Judging from some of the current fare on TV, it might be too bad he wasn't right!
