He'd do better if he put it in the right category: Vintage TVs or Collectable TVs..

But this is a battery-operated toy CT-100.
![]() Seriously, I now know (by currently listing an item for a friend) how easy it is for an auction to be ridiculously miscategorized or, rather, how difficult it is to list your auction in the category where it belongs. That part of eBay's listing procedure is seriously flawed.

The seller states that his reserve is $8,000. I don't understand why people bother making bids that are far below that . . . .

I've seen that set in person, but a LONG time ago... The seller used to live closer down here in the LA area, and he had that set running well as early as 1980. Very likely, he has Vacu Sealed the tube. I was very surprised to see him selling it! He's a true collector, and is completely honorable.

Here's follow-up info about B8000936, the subject of this thread.
It was my good fortune to have been able to assemble and set up this CT-100 for its new caretaker, a collector in France, Jean-Francois. After assembly, a scramble for new parts in the city of Angers, and some last-minute troubleshooting, a most beautiful set of color bars shown from the faceplate of its good 15GP22. Seen from left to right are Jean-Francois, his wife Nadia, and Jerome Halphen, my gracious host for the trip and caretaker of the only other CT-100 in France, located in Paris. I have promised Jerome that I would add a webpage to my site about the trip, which took place in February 2008, and which was basically an RCA Service Company call for a couple of out-of-warranty (those 90 days pass fast) CT-100's! (Note my Canon A-630 takes much better photos of people than phosphors, which it loves to overexpose.) Will post a link when avaliable. Pete |
