Atwater-Kent T.R.F. ??
Hello, I have an Atwater Kent T.R.F. radio model #446603. I was wondering if anyone knew the approximate value of this unit. The wood is in very good condition for its age. All knobs and switches are present and in good condition. All but one of the tubes are missing. I also have the matching speaker horn but it is hollow. There is no driver in the base.
Any help or advice here would be greatly apreciated....

Thanks, yes I will but it may take me a day or two as I have a new camera and software that I know nothing about. That # is the only # anywhere on the thing. Its under a flip top lid.

Looks to be an early, early one. A. Atwater-Kent went out of business in 1937, this puppy is prolly at least 10 years before that... I'm assuming its a battery set..if so, then DEFINATELY pre-1928.

Most certainly a battery set indeed. I am fairly certain that most "breadboards" are from the 1920's, but I know that there are some from the teens as well. Hopefully David will be able to elaborate for us....

Yes I was wrong in calling it a breadboard. No it is not. It is however a Model 20, circa 1925 with a Model H speaker horn.
I have collected old radios for over 25 years, but I always shyed away from battery operated sets, and the real early stuff in general. For me its the 30's-50's all the way. Oh well, maybe somebody will want this old thing....

To be more specific its a model 20C or compact. Very attractive set. There was also the model 20 witch is the same radio but built in a bigger cabinet (known as the big box)
Are both pictures of the same set? Did you restore it? Steve

Great site for identification purposes! I must have been blind when I started this thread because the model #'s are clearly stamped on the nameplates of both the radio and the speaker. I don't remember seeing a "c" after model 20, but obviously I could be wrong. I have too many radios and plan on thinning out my collection. If anyone is interested in this A-K please PM me. Per the 6th (2005) Edition Antique Radios ID & Valuation published by Radio Daze
If it is a 20, 20C. or 20 Deluxe (and it does fit the discription) $85.00-$115.00 (circa 1925). Take this estimate with a grain of salt, I've seen a reconditioned example sell for 10X's the est. value. Being an Atwater Kent is a big plus, looks like a nice project and it's not a big deal to convert it to AC.
