old ge b&w

does any one know what year this is .i get sound(static)and snow ,but i cant get a signal(antena is hooked up)what could be the problem.

Looks like mid-late 50's. if you can give us a model number, we can be a little more accurate.

If you're getting static and snow, I'd first try changing the tubes in the tuner, and then the IF tubes.

A set that old should have all the wax capacitors replaced. The fact that you get noise and snow means that the major components of the set are still working, but a wax cap that is leaky ( usually every last one is today) may mis bias a tube and draw excessive current thru something else damageing it if the set is run for very long.

A dirty tuner could kill reception.
