Vintage TVs on the net
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has ever bought a set from Harry Poster.. There's some things on his site I'm looking at, and would be interested in some sets he has listed as found, as long as the original chassis is intact and not parted out..

I bought a set from Harry, also a couple pictures tubes over the years.
I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, he packs well and is trustworthy. This is the set I bought about 12 years ago as I recall : http://www.vintagetvsets.com/rca.htm |

I bought my RCA 630 from Harry some years ago. He is fair, and, honest.
I have NO complaints about him. Great guy, in my opinion. Bill Cahill

Harry is top notch. I have had multiple dealings with him and would not hesitate to do so again.

FYI and I feel bad doing this, but he wanted over 100$ for a nonworking Emerson from the late 80s.
Not exactly what I would call 'fair'; prop or not. |

$100 for a non working Emerson is not bad... But it also depends on how much you want the set...

I'd be happy if somebody would just pull up with a truck and take the whole lot for a few hundred, TVs, Radios, NOS flybacks, yokes, and a bunch of tubes to go with it, testers too!!! Come to Virginia!!! |

Most of us are visual in nature - I suspect if you posted pictures of the stuff you are wanting to get rid of then you might get us to start salivating over them - it would be like throwing raw meat amongst a bunch of wild dogs:-)

I've bought several TVs and TV literature from Harry over the years. He has a knack for finding some really rare stuff. He is not the cheapest guy but honest. fair and packs well. In order to store any TV where you can get it when it sales cost money. I have all of my TVs in storage right now and it would take days to dig out one specific TV. You probably could find a generic vintage TV cheaper elsewhere especially if you don't care about the specific make and model.

I've known him and done business with him since.... wow; 1979 or 80! I've always found him to be fair & honest. He knows exactly what he has, and he does sell at market value because buying and selling vintage TV stuff is a business for him, but I believe you will get what he says, as far as condition and completeness.

There are pictures posted in the classifieds section of this site. I think the title is Must part with radio and TV collection. In that thread those interested in the 1964 Zenith 5111 metal cabinet color are directed to another thread with pictures in the Early Color Television section. The thread is titled Zenith 5111 Comes to Life. At least it had at the time. The color went out after a few hours of use after decades of dormancy. The usual cap problems or possibly the crystal, but man it was a pretty sight when it worked!
