Anyone have a 1950's Centralab catalog?
Or know where I can find one on the net? I found a catalog from the 1940's but that's too early.
I'm trying to find the part number for the switch cover for the on/off, volume, and hold control on my 1950 DuMont RA-112. The SAMS Photofact doesn't break down the individual components, but lists the a Centralab part number: SBB-560-S, which I believe is the whole assembly. The switch cover MIGHT be a KR-1. Does that sound right? The IRC equivalent is a 76-1, but I don't know if an IRC cover will fit a Centralab control. Thanks. |

If you don't find what you want, you might try Mark Opatt. He can make just about any control.

Looking at my Sams 1966 control cross reference replacement guide, the Centralab KR-1 should be correct. That's the complete switch assembly. I'm not aware that they sold a separate cover.

I may be using the wrong terminology for the switch. I've seen them called "switch covers" on the internet, and I've befriended a local fellow who had a radio/tv repair shop back in the 60's and 70's (he was partners with my wife's uncle who's in his 80's and doesn't remember much from back then) who just called it "the cover". It is the whole switch assembly I'm talking about, but it seems to just snap/crimp onto the back of the pots in front that do the volume control and hold control. Thanks for looking that up. There aren't many parts to "eyeball" out in my neck of the desert, so I have to buy from the net looking at pics and then hope it's right when it gets here. -Cary |

Cary - You're very welcome.
I suppose people call them switch covers because the switch basically replaces the pots standard back cover. Unfortunately there's no guarantee that a KR-1 switch will fit an OEM Centralab pot. Last edited by Kevin Kuehn; 03-02-2014 at 08:25 PM. |
