Hi,
Finally had some time to get this done. Many thanks to Steve at the Early Television Foundation for letting me bid on this by phone and then shipping to Boulder Colorado. One more TV that I have wanted for years the CRT was excellent, had to disassemble the tuner to clean up some rust. The TV performs very good, the cabinet was in really good shape did not have to refinish. The TV was worked on in 1994 so most of the paper caps were replaced I just replaced the E caps and some misc parts. Mike

-WOW- That looks really good ! !
Nice cabinet- Very good picture- Good linearity horizontal, and vertical- Very good job ! That tuner looks really good, did you put something on the metal to protect it from rust after removing what was there....? .

You landed a nice one! In my opinion that walnut version is the most attractive. You really notice the contrasting tones. I got a mahogany version over 20 years ago and still think of it as the gem of my collection. Taking everything into consideration, including performance, it's often thought of as the best vintage TV of them all. I agree.
Enjoy it! Last edited by decojoe67; 01-04-2015 at 07:01 PM. |

I was really surprised by the cabinet condition, it seems to be right up their with Dumont and RCA 630 performance wise. The chassis looked pretty good but a it looked like a mouse had a nest right on the tuner and it was rusted between the chassis and tuner. I used navel jelly to remove rust then just coated with WD40. It seems to work to prevent rust from coming back but I do live in a dry climate. I could not get a video signal through the tuner until tnehe rust was removed, I think it was a grounding issue worked great once the tuner was installed. A neat little TV
