New testing equipment check
Bias supply for eventual work for other projects
I have an RCA bias supply for tv work, too. EICO Signal Gen Model 320 EICO Scope 435 Sencore CG18 Standard Color Generator Senior and Junior VoltOhmysts Can I now start advanced testing and learning? Because honestly I can't find anyone to do this! I would rather just teach myself. Need to do tuner alignment, sound and video I-F alignments, etc. What else do I need? |

You really need a sweep generator to align the IF of a TV or FM radio. The sweep generator should have a marker generator included or added. A marker generator puts out several accurate frequencies at once to help identify the location of those frequencies on a sweep display. I would avoid trying TV or FM alignment until you get more experience. Aligning AM radios is a far better place to start There also might be some accessories like demodulating probes that you may need. |

Do you have an isolation transformer? You really should have one if you work on anything with a hot chassis.
Many people like to power things up for the first time using a variac and current meter. A dim-bulb tester is a partial substitute. Since anything other than a AM radio may have many different tube types, and therefore too many types to have on hand for substituting, a tube tester makes sense. Mostly you need to learn a lot about how things work and how they are built. |

The picture is fine (relatively speaking) but the audio is what is messed up. Somewhere in 4.5 mc trap is where I am slogged with the audio takeoff.
