A Sony TR-725 sold on eBay about a year ago for $2700+. The Sony TFM-151 is also quite expensive.

There are lot of radios that are affordable:
GE P780--AM only GE P865--AM and FM version GE Super Radio I GE Super Radio III,a current model,44.99 online at Radio Shack Zenith Transoceanic 3000 Zenith 755 AM only, great if you near a good AM music station, Cheap on Ebay, Nice $10 project. Got a minty one going now. Channel Master Super Fringe AM only. Most are on Ebay to view them. If you like to play with them or fix them up it can be a lot of fun. Keeping costs down is important as I dont have a large budget. Eric

The Sony TR-55 is quite desireable... being it was their first transistor radio... and since they weren't sold in the US back then, it would make them even harder to find today. Of course, this makes them quite expensive if you find one today... IF you find one.
Here's a photo of one... with a little bit of history... http://www.sony.net/Fun/SH/1-5/h6.html
