Hallicrafters T-54 Television

Hello : I am restoring a Hallicrafters T-54 Television set. This set has really been butchered by past "repair" people and its the worst I have seen in the last 55 years of working on and designing TV sets.. Eric H. was kind enough to give me a Sams Folder 91 for this set. Unfortunately this is a very early Channel 1 set made in 1948 and many circuit changes were made especially in the horizontal output where the two choke transformers were not used and replaced with 47k resistors and other bias changes. Does anyone have an original schematic that they can share with me??Thank you

I do not have an original Hallicrafters schematic but I do have the Riders service info for the T-54 in Volume 1. If you wish I can photocopy the schematic and send it to you. I could try to scan it but it is a large fold out sheet that I my have trouble getting on the scanner.

hallicrafters t-54 schmetic

Hi Steve: Does the riders schematic show no horizontal linearity trimmer capacitor and 47kohm plate load resistors on the 12sn7 horizontal amplifier instead of the later transformer choke loads? If it does thats what I need.

Konrad:

My schematic (including the one in Beitmans) does not have the trimmer cap but does have the 47K plate resistors. I do not see a transformer in the horizontal output section.

Halli Channel 1 Chassis

Konrad,

If you want to give up on the butchered chassis, I can probably find, and sell you, another Halliscrafters Channel 1 chassis. Untested, but I would check for any obvious repairs, parts removals, etc. At least, you could start clean, and maybe even use that chassis for any parts that might be needed.

If you decide to go the replacement route, just send a PM.

Harry
