My idea-either a wired remote somebody built for a tv set, or a bench test jig so you could leave the tuner and all controls with the set. I could understand just the tuner-maybe a sub for bench testing-but all those other knobs? All the functions are in this box, or so it seems. The RCA logo is a red herring. This is homebrew...did RCA ever use connectors like that? I thought their tube era stuff was usually hard-wired to the chassis.

Looks like a tuner subber.

That looks like (definitely) aftermarket remote for a CTC-12-16. Has controls for H Hold, tone contrast, and V. Hold with original brown knobs, and the whole tuner ass'y remounted. Hmmm... I wonder how good the IF alignment could be with an (x-dozen)-foot-long cable and Jones plugs? Don't ask ME to align it!
Neat item. Probably from a built-in installation in a large house. Charles
