It's been slow here recently

Is everyone off for the Summer? No projects going on?

I've been recapping and refinishing a Tele Tone 7" model 149.
Just about done with both, refinishing is NOT my favorite thing to do, hate it more than restuffing a can capacitor!

Putting on the new decals (Beautiful product from rockseaent!) is an exercise in frustration for me. Big clumsy hands+small delicate decals=Arrgh.
Got em on there though, I will post some pictures when it's finished, I still have to knock down some of the shine from the gloss Lacquer.

After

After, but still not done.
Note the Tele-Tone decal, RSE doesn't make that one so I had to save the old one for now.
Maybe I should have just sanded it off and left it blank, or rebranded it Firestone?

Now that I'm near the end of financial trevail (pardon the use of that word, I was listening to Peter, Paul and Mary when i logged on), I'm starting again. Next up is my Philcp 50-T-1403. Tonight I slow start it. Within the next few weeks I'll be ordering caps. The cabinet needs cleaned and touched up. I found a 12LP4 at the ETF swapmeet to replace the broken one the set came equipped with. Hopefully, all will be successful. Oh, I forgot, the chassis has rust and evidence that it wasn't kept in the best of conditions. Fortunately, there is no evidence of mice or other vermin (no, Dubyuh wasn't in there). I'll keep you posted here and on my website.

Here is the before...

It would give me the creeps having that thing staring at me all the time!

Dave, do you turn it towards the wall so you don't feel watched?

I hadn't thought of that. I did keep it seperated from the ones with non-broken CRT's.

I did do a soft start. We got some noise from the speaker, but little HV. Replacing all those evil black beauties and possibly the doorknob cap should fix that. The chassis is a mess. The power transformer has rust and will need cleaned and repainted. I did score an original Philco 12LP4 with spare yoke, ion trap and mount. I think all the cabinet will need is a little stain and a shot or two of toner. The decals are in good shape. I'll update the website tonight.
