Sampson, I wish you were closer so I could pawn my 76 Sylvania off on you! It's neither of those you are looking for but I bet you'd appreciate it.

Around the same time as the tuning-eye Philco there was a GE with a tuning meter plus a set that should really be rare today, a Westinghouse with an on-screen tuning indicator.

Sorry, I had one. I gave it away for 70 EUR. Bad and porous cabinet, no reliable operation.

I prefer the General Electrics Portacolor. Much more reliable, robust cabinet.

Dream TV?

Zenith 29JC20 with space command 400 in danish modern cabinet. OR any 25" Zenith steel cabinet table TV with space command 600. They are impossible to find!

This one is an E41 with a rebuilt 25VEZP22. Real wood cabinet that I hate to break up. You know, our annual trip out to Ashland, KY is coming up Memorial Day week...my wife did suggest riding up to Columbus, checking out the zoo...though with gas prices the way they are I don't know. I'm gonna keep tryin' to give this baby away to somebody!

Mine is the same as Doug's. My Dream TV would be a 1962 Zenith 29JC20 with space command and have the modern danish cabinet. I've been looking for this set, or any model 29JC20 (on & off) for 30 years! I'm a tube "purist" and the reason I like this set isn't so much because it's Zenith's first Color TV, but because it has the 2 3DG4 LV rectifier tubes, and has more tubes than any other Zenith "roundie" chassi! I have to admit, that in my 30 year search, it's been more off than on in the past 20, but that's changed in the past year and I'm in "Hot Pursuit" now!! Wally

I remember those Setchell-Carlsons in school! I'd like one myself. Anyhoo, right now, any roundie in good, working shape or an RCA 2000 set.

How about a SECAM portacolor? SECAM is what they used in France, and the Communist block of Europe, and Russia...
