Rabbit ears

What is missing from these? I remember having a pair of these as a kid, but I can't remember how the connections were made.

I was thinking the wires came out from underneath or a hole in the back. Maybe they got ripped out of this one. I have some similiar units; will have to remember to take a look.

I bet there is a round fiber plate that mounts on the back and has two brass sleeves that slide over the the end of each antenna wire, which are then wired to two screw terminals. Let's see if I'm right. I wish I had the parts cause the bakelite is good on this one.
