movies on 16mm film

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. I am looking for a copy of the original "Night of the Living Dead" on 16mm film. I have no idea if such a thing exists, but I've been looking and have come up empty handed.

Thanks

It is available on 16mm, as it was in many rental packages for use in libraries and shown on college campuses, etc, as well as on television. The beat-up looking public domain copies we see now are likely transfers from those old prints.

As far as finding one, you will have to spend some serious cash for that. You may get lucky and find an "as is" copy on ebay, but EVERY film print I have ever purchased at auction like that has been damaged or faded. I purchase all of my films from other collectors now, and list price of a fairly well known film like this would be on the order of $300-500 dollars, and you will certainly pay more if you put out a request for such an item.

I believe the full-length film was also available in super 8 sound as well, which would run something like $150, and be pretty cheap to ship.

Check out Derann film services in the UK. It says something about their quality of service that I don't mind dealing with international shipping as all of their products are completely as described.

Many copies of Night Of The Living Dead are dupe prints. The film is public domain, and has been copied to death.

There are 35mm originals around that sell for big bucks.

Until 1999, I had a 16mm print of this title that was an original print. It had great contrast. I sold it when I sold the bulk of my collection. Hated to do it, but in the 20 years that I had the print, I probably watched it 5 times.

Best of luck in finding a print. They are scarce now, and getting more rare all the time.

I love 16mm stuff,it is goregous!!!

I have the movie DOA from 1951 that was copied from the 16mm reels and they did not clean it up..... It looks like im watching it ON THE REELS and not a VHS tape!

I also have a Laurel and Hardy movie (Flying Deuces) and a 1929 movie "Blackmail" both on thier original 16mm reels.....

Whats the latest year we might find something done on 16mm?? (I mean the actual reels, not copied onto a VHS tape)
