Newbie with a DuMont RA 109 A2
Hello All
I am new to this forum, and also fairly new to restoring old electronics. I have a 1952 Grundig 5060a radio and a 1950 Dumont RA-109. I have replaced all the paper/electrolytic caps in both of them and they sound great. The problem with a TV is that it needs to "look" great too. My Dumont came with a 19AP4 metal coned CRT. This crt was also used in several other sets at the time. The problem as I have found out and many others know is that the metal cone to glass screen interface is prone to leakage. After months of searching I have found a couple replacement candidates and both seemed to have the same condition of an at best questionable seal. Because of this defect, this eliminates the possibility of getting one rebuilt and lasting at all. Does anybody here know of a good lead on getting a good 19AP4. I would actually prefer to get a 19FP4 (all glass tube) but would entertain any 19" round black and white picture tube that is still good. Thanks! |
