How about the History channel quit giving people ideas that their "whatever" is worth $$$$ when it's really not. And why not concentrate on History instead of crazy Characters. Enough with the FAKE history too. So I guess I will pass on your offer and restore the item myself cause I will do a better job, and want the enjoyment of doing the restoration myself.

I love how (on Pawn Stars) Rick took the hulk of an old Vendo Coke machine and "restored" it into a later Cavalier model machine.
I'd be willing to hand over an old Zenith set if he can work the same magic and turn it into a CT-100.

Some collectors get annoyed by shows like American Pickers, but I look at it this way. If the shows encourage people to save old items rather than pitch them into the garbage, that means more items for me to find some day.
If the owners think their humdrum items are worth a fortune, no problem. The market will educate them soon enough without my help. Eventually, they will learn that their $50 TV won't sell with a $5,000 pricetag, but that other owners do manage to sell the same thing at $50. Just my $0.02. Phil Nelson |
