Modern portable vs Old and large

Wow what a difference in the picture these two do. It's a shame that portable LCD TV's just can't do anything right it seems.. And what's worse, all adjustments to the picture settings are lost when it's turned off and it goes back to default (yet it keeps all other setting in flash memory, so odd).

And too bad the LCD wasn't in the shot for this, but I can't image THAT little TV ever getting flesh tones like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../tvquality.jpg

My little 7" LCD set I have above the bed has that "forgets everything" annoyance. Even MORE strange....is it will retain all it's setting for some "random unknown" number of days......and then SUDDENLY come on with everything set to defaults. Sometimes two or three days, and sometimes keeps the settings for WEEKS and suddenly does it. It's some little set I got at the swap meet NIB for like $20 called "Digital Dynamics" or something.

Looks like the little 7" "Auvio" set does seem to keep all it's settings even if unplugged though. (even with the Li-on batteries pulled out of it!)

Even more-MORE annoying.....is factory defaults are not even CLOSE to how you would wanna watch the set even temporarily, where as most CRT sets even if electronic are generally at least watchable at default settings...and don't NAG YOU to constantly "rescan" for channels if you don't want to.
