Picked up an 82 Sony 15" today

Well it is 30 years old and nearly perfect, Sony still built unique, quality sets at this time.

It's complete with both antennas, remote and paperwork, without the extras I may have let it sit.

The CRT was showing rather reddish so I wasn't sure how well it'd track, I turned up the green a bit though and it looks great. (my camera makes CRT images look blue)

Neat feature, for all the various adjustments there is an LED bar graph that shows where the level is, similar to the green on screen bar Sony would later use.

Nice. I am a huge fan of 80's tech.

I am never that lucky/fortunate. I always find stuff like this Goldstar and RCA ColorTrak.

Been years since I have seen a Sony anywhere other than craigslist.

I know it is hard to believe, but the Goldstar actually produces a very nice picture.

The RCA with the very low tech Emerson dvd player that sits atop it has a stunning picture.

i had a 19 inch version of this set.picture was amazing.i let it go and have been kickung myself since.those were the best sonys ever

Hello I used to have several of those sonys when I worked on solid state I use to get trade ins from HH Gregg and that is also how I got some of my sets from the 40s and 50s,60s. to bad that stopped 12 yrs ago..Timothy

After playing for an hour or so the Sony was now too green and I backed it down to where it was, it looks perfect but the CRT is probably a bit tired.

Since I had the modulator playing I decided to hook up a couple other 15" sets I have.
One is a super clean Hitachi from 1981, the other is an near mint RCA from around 1979, both these sets have strong CRT's.

The RCA didn't have a proper antenna so the pictures a little grainy.

The Hitachi has a nice picture but the DC restoration seems to be non existent, on dark scenes it looks pretty bad.

The Sony does Black Level very well, of the sets Three the Sony has the best picture by quite a margin, the color is significantly better and more detailed also.

NICE! 15"ers are rare in the 80s and 90s. In fact, I don't remember ever seeing a KV-1547 in person.

As I remember, Goldstar in the late Seventies and early Eighties wasn't that bad in terms of performance and even build quality. They could never match Sony and Zenith however.
