Truetone D-727 Misc. Questions

I've purchased a 727, and plan to have the cabinet refinished. I've seen photos of a few refinished 727 cabinets, a couple of which have black lacquer bands at the top and bottom, as well as black speaker grille fins. I’ve also seen a photo of one refinished with dark brown bands (like the 724) and black fins. An online article cited black lacquer trim. A photo of an original cabinet, looks much like mine – near uniform wood color all around, with the spotty remains, of a hint of a darker coloration on the bands and fins. Are black lacquer bands and fins indeed original to this model?

Also, was the metal trim originally a bright brass (I assume brass), or a dulled brass? And finally, would a radio of the 1938 period have a cloth covered power cord?

Thanks!

Can't answer about the finish, but around 1937 most manufacturers were switching over to rubber power cords, so a modern brown plastic cord as found on reels at home centers would be appropriate, as would the ones sold on line at various sources complete with molded plugs.
